Curriculum Vitae

In 1982 I became interested with the technical side of photography. I had until then worked in theatre, performing, directing, writing, and choreographing. I had the opportunity to learn how to develope and print my photographs in a professional darkroom in the multimedia center 'The Melkweg' in Amsterdam. Around that time I also started to work with the very talented pop photographer Kees Tabak as his studio assistant. I continued to photograph in my own studio working with light and composition. In 1988 I showed my nude black and white work to Suzanne Dechert, the curator of the Melkweg Gallery, and she offered to expose it with 6 other women's erotic work 'Seven Women on Erotic Photography'.
In 1990 I had my first solo exhibition in the Melkweg Gallery. 'Amsterdam's Angels'. For the next decade I challenged myself to learn different techniques, to express the theme and character of the body of work in which my theme lay. In 199I started working in color and on locations, which I found exciting in a very different way to studio work. I describe myself as selftaught, however I have learnt from everything and everybody around me. From 2003 - 2009 I worked for Het Financieele Dagblad, a dutch version of The Financial Times. Photographing national and international well known politicians, writers, directors etc. This was an enormous learning curve once again. If the passion is there, there is no limit to what is possible. I have been passionate about my photography for more than 20 years. This is the driving force behind my work.
